Jordan is a country where 70% of its approximately ten million people are refugees who crossed over due to wars in Palestine, Syria, Iraq, and other regions. Although 96% of the population is Muslim and 4% is Christian, only about 0.1% are evangelical Christians.
The early church, which was previously in Israel, built churches in Jordan to protect their faith and live, fleeing from persecution, and Jordan became the land of Christians. However, 1,400 years ago, Islam entered and dominated this land, and due to persecution, many people converted to Islam. Even the remaining churches do not evangelize to Muslims because it is legally prohibited, and they live only protecting their own faith.
During Ramadan, Muslims in Jordan read the Quran and focus on prayer more intensively than usual. They believe that reading the Quran diligently and praying a lot during Ramadan accumulates more good deeds. In many cases, Ramadan is observed formally. However, this becomes a time for them to spiritually focus on Islam again. Jesus speaks to our Muslim souls who fear going to hell and want to go to heaven with their own good deeds:
"Jesus said to her, 'Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty forever. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.'" (John 4:13-14, ESV)
"But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him." (John 4:23, ESV)
We hope that our Muslim souls will realize the vain emptiness of fasting and prayer during Ramadan and believe in Jesus Christ as the true Savior. May they become souls who enjoy the salvation of Jesus, the spring of water that never thirsts. May they become true worshipers who are born again in spirit and truth and worship God the Father!
The Israel-Palestine war, which began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas crossed the Gaza Strip border and attacked southern Israel, killing about 1,200 Israeli civilians and soldiers and kidnapping 251, agreed to a ceasefire on January 15, but the ceasefire was canceled again.
Nearly 50,000 soldiers and civilians from both sides have died in the bombings that have lasted for over a year. The entire Gaza Strip is completely in ruins, with about 90% of its 2.3 million people becoming refugees. The UN said, "It will take at least until 2040 to clear all the rubble and start reconstruction in Gaza."
Former US President Trump said, "He wants Egypt and Jordan to accommodate the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip," but Egypt and Jordan oppose accepting Palestinian residents. Hamas clearly expressed its opposition, saying, "We Palestinians did not leave our homeland even in 15 months of death and destruction. We can never accept Trump's proposal," and emphasized its will to protect its homeland.
60-70% of Jordan's population is Palestinian, and anger toward Israel is rising among Palestinians living in Jordan due to this war. However, the tired hearts of Palestinians in Jordan hope that the war will end quickly before more casualties occur as the war prolongs.
"In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and Assyria will come into Egypt, and Egypt into Assyria, and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians. In that day Israel will be the third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth," (Isaiah 19:23, ESV)
The brotherly conflict between Isaac and Ishmael continues to this day, and there is much pain and anger. However, eventually, the descendants of Ishmael will fill the 'house of God's glory' with Israel. Assyrians and Palestinians will become citizens of heaven and children of God with Israel. We pray that God will quickly restore these nations according to this word. We believe that the Lord, who is preparing and accomplishing the final Arab revival, will surely transform the Jordanian church and establish it as a church that desires to die for the Lord! Everyone in Jordan will rise up as UP12! 120,000 royal armies!
[Today's Prayer]
"From the other side of the Jordan, from the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh, came 120,000 armed with all the weapons of war. All these, being soldiers, arrayed for battle, came to Hebron with a whole heart to make David king over all Israel. Likewise, all the rest of Israel were of a single mind to make David king." (1 Chronicles 12:37-38, ESV)
1. We pray that the Jordanian church will rise up in battle formation to bear the revival of this land. May it become a holy Jordanian church that mourns for the dying Muslims of this land and fulfills the mission of the gospel.
2. May the vain darkness of Islam be broken down! In the name of Jesus, may all darkness leave. During Ramadan, may they become a people who know Jesus, the spring of living water!
3. We hope that all the troubled refugees, nationals, and churches in Jordan will rise up as 120,000 royal armies. Like the army that risked their lives to make David king, may the holy 120,000 royal armies rise up to prepare the way for Jesus' second coming. May we confess, "He must increase, but I must decrease," and may the 120,000 royal armies of Jordan rise up with the spirituality of John the Baptist!
