[Field Story] Afghan Taliban regime pushes to restrict Facebook… “Negative of governing principles”

EFE news agency reported on the 8th (local time) that the Taliban, the Islamic extremist force that effectively rules Afghanistan, is pursuing measures to restrict or block access to the social media Facebook.

According to reports, Enayat Ullah Alokozai, spokesman for the Taliban government's communications department, said the previous day that Facebook contradicts the government's (governing) principles or restricts government-related content.

Alokozai remarked, "When a country's government cannot benefit from a platform, that platform may not be effective," mentioning that current measures include filtering content "that goes against our culture and religious beliefs.”

The Taliban has been restricting women's right to education and freedom of the press, claiming to rule in accordance with Islamic law after retaking power in August 2021 during the withdrawal of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces, including U.S. troops.

Despite regaining control, the Taliban has not been officially recognized as a government by any country.

Activists claim that in Afghanistan, social media, including Facebook, serves as an important channel for expressing people's concerns about the ruling party.

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.(2 Thessalonians 3:3-5)

Heavenly Father who loves Afghanistan, only You are the King of Afghanistan.

May the power of darkness that lifts itself up above our Lord and reign over this land and take away the freedom of the souls of this nation be broken.

We trust that you always looks upon the Afghan people and are with them.

Please fulfill your words among the Afghan people by strengthening them in the Lord and protecting them from the evil one. Let this time be a time for the Afghan people to enter into the love of God and the patience of Christ.

May Afghanistan be set free, not by the freedom the world pursues, but by the love of the cross of Jesus Christ!
