[Field Story] Armenia-Azeri peace agreement imminent… “Preparing to sign within this month”
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on the 8th (local time) that Azerbaijan and Armenia, which have been pushing for a peace agreement following a territorial dispute last year, are almost at the stage of signing the agreement.
Armenia and Azerbaijan have been engaged in a territorial dispute for 30 years.
The two countries agreed to sign a peace agreement after Azerbaijan emerged victorious from last year's armed conflict in the key conflict zone of Nagorno-Karabakh.
This area is Azerbaijani territory, but was occupied by Armenian separatist forces.
However, after Azerbaijan launched a large-scale airstrike in September last year, effectively neutralizing the separatist forces, Armenia appeared to agree to the peace agreement without even having a chance to exert its power. Of the 120,000 ethnic Armenians in the area, more than 100,000 defected to Armenia.
The two countries have been pushing for a peace agreement under the mediation of the European Union (EU) and Russia, with the goal of guaranteeing the safety of the remaining ethnic Armenians while recognizing Azerbaijan's territorial control.
Since last April, work has also been done to clearly define territorial boundaries, including handing over some border villages previously occupied by Armenia to Azerbaijan.

8 Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, 10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory. (2 Timothy 2:8,10)
Lord, we thank You for the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which has been in territorial conflict for 30 years.
We know that this is a peace made in the ways of the world, but we know that true restoration and peace will come when the love of Jesus covers both peoples!
May these two lands come to know Jesus as the Truth, and may they become peoples who plead for true peace before Jesus!
Especially in Armenia, there are Your churches. May the churches remember Jesus Christ in the gospel, and may the Armenian church patiently wait for salvation to come among Azerbaijan, so that they may receive eternal glory together in Jesus.
May Armenia and Azerbaijan be united in the gospel and prepare the way for Jesus' return!
