[Field Story] Israeli hostage families protest, call for negotiations… attempt to enter Gaza

The Times of Israel reported on the 29th (local time) that families of Israeli hostages held by the Palestinian militant group Hamas attempted to enter the Gaza Strip during a protest calling for negotiations for their release.

The hostage families gathered at the Gaza Strip border this morning and called on the Israeli government to negotiate a ceasefire and release the hostages. Some of the family members attempted to cross the fence installed on the Gaza Strip border, but gave up after the Israeli military dissuaded them.

They appealed to the Israeli government to abandon its position of stationing troops in the Philadelphia Corridor, a buffer zone between the Gaza Strip and the Egyptian border, and to actively negotiate with Hamas. The

Since the war broke out in October of last year due to a surprise attack by Hamas, there have been eight cases of hostage rescues through military operations in the 10 months since then.

Of the 251 Israelis kidnapped in the surprise attack last year, 104 are still being held by Hamas, and 34 of them are presumed dead. The rest were released during the temporary ceasefire in November of last year, rescued by Israeli military operations, and in some cases, found dead.

Lord, you know more than anyone else, the deep sorrow of the peoples of Israel and Palestine, and whose heart is broken, may these two peoples now become two peoples who truly desire the true God, our Lord, and not followers of vain things.

May You wipe away their tears, and may You enthrone them as kings of the two peoples, and may You grant them grace and peace to have everlasting joy in the name of Yeshua, the true Savior!
