[Ramadan 2024 Day 8] Take the gates of the enemy! The Last Trumpet of Revival Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan is a Turkic republic in the Caucasus, which means 'Land of Holy Fire'. It has worshiped Zoroastrianism since ancient times, and was the first in the Caucasus to accept Christianity after Bartholomew, a disciple of Jesus, preached the gospel and was martyred. Afterwards, it was converted into Islam under the rule of the Arab people, and now 95% of the population is Muslim, 0.05% is evangelical Christianity, and the population is about 10 million. Due to the long war with Armenia, most of the people have scars, pain, hatred and hatred towards the war, and the young generation in particular is suffering from the aftereffects and trauma caused by the war.
Azerbaijan is a secular Islamist country and is not religious, so it is not easy to find people who fully participate in fasting during Ramadan. Nevertheless, during Ramadan, you can meet people who go to mosques to pray or begin namaz. Also, during this period, young people are often seen thirsting for the truth and reading and seeking out various religious books.
Additionally, the Azerbaijani people live in diaspora in neighboring countries. There are 10 million Azeri living in Azerbaijan, while more than 25 million live in northern Iran. Additionally, in Georgia, approximately 350,000 Azeri people live in groups centered around the M region. The Azeri people in Georgia are Muslims living in a Christian background and surrounding. Compared to other regions, Islamic elements are not as evident on the outside, but the number of people going to mosque on Fridays during Ramadan is increasing. In addition, many people try to fast during Ramadan because they seek Azeri national identity in Islam within a Christian background and surrounding.
Recently, Azerbaijani youth have become skeptical about Islam and are living a life of secularism and materialism. With so much knowledge flooding in through media such as YouTube, we see people becoming obsessed with finding ideas they want to believe in rather than finding the true truth. Additionally, the number of atheists who do not want to adhere to any religion or who deny the existence of God is increasing. Azerbaijan has churches registered with the government and, although relatively free, is subject to government control. Moreover, most of the church members are middle-aged and middle-aged who came to faith 20-30 years ago, and we can see a disconnect between the younger generation and the next generation.
In this situation, during this Ramadan, Azerbaijani youth need a spiritual breakthrough. This land and its youth must break through and rise up only with the truth! During this Ramadan, please help the young people who follow Jesus in Azerbaijan rise up and lead the new revival of Azerbaijan!
[Today’s prayer]
1. Let the hatred, anger, hurt and fear caused by the long war with Armenia, the secular spirit and the spirit of Islam that bind the youth of this land go away, and renew the land of Azerbaijan only with the Gospel. Let the souls of this land thirst for the truth and come to Jesus Christ!
2. Let the young people of faith in Azerbaijan rise up as the army of the holy God who will fulfill the words of Jeremiah 51:27 in the last days, destroy spiritual Babylon, and go to the ends of the earth to testify the gospel of the Lord! Also, let all the churches in Azerbaijan wake up together and endure the time of revival, and let 10,000 young missionaries arise by 2030!
3. During Ramadan, may the souls of this land seek more truth, hear the gospel, and work through dreams and visions, so that many people will return to Jesus Christ! Especially during this period, may young people of faith rise up and break through spiritual darkness by witnessing the gospel together!
