It has been revealed that more than 700 patients have died from MPOX (formerly known as monkeypox) on the African continent this year.

According to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the 15th (local time), as of the 12th, 724 people have died from Mpox this year, including 104 additional deaths in the past week.

A total of 26,544 suspected cases of Mpox were reported on the African continent this year, including 3,161 cases added during the same period, of which 5,732 were confirmed cases.

Empox is an acute fever-rash disease caused by a viral infection.

As the disease spread in the Americas and Europe in May 2022, WHO declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), the highest level of health alert, but lifted it in May last year when the spread subsided.
