[Today’s Prayer] 71 Vietnamese dead or missing in worst typhoon in 30 years... railway bridge collapse
In Vietnam, where Super Typhoon ‘Yagi’ struck, the number of dead and missing people increased to 71 as bridges collapsed and buses were caught in torrents.
The Vietnamese government announced on this day that 49 people had died and 22 were missing as of the 9th (local time) due to Typhoon ‘Yagi’, which landed in northern Vietnam on the 7th.
In the northern Phu Tho province, the Phong Chau railway bridge over the Red River, the largest river in northern Vietnam, collapsed on this day, causing 10 cars, including trucks, and 2 motorcycles to fall into the river.
Rescue authorities reported that three people were rescued at the scene and taken to the hospital, but at least 10 people, including the remaining vehicle passengers, were missing.
More than half of the 375-meter-long bridge collapsed, and some piers appear to have been washed away by the flood.
The black box video of a vehicle passing by the scene showed a breathtaking scene in which the bridge collapsed, a truck driving ahead fell into the river, and a motorcycle traveling right behind it narrowly avoided falling.
This morning, in the mountainous area of northern Cao Bang Province, a bus carrying 20 people, including passengers, was swept away by a torrent caused by a landslide.
Afterwards, four bodies were found on the bus and one survivor was rescued, but the remaining 15 people are still missing, the Associated Press reported.

“But I call to God, and the Lord will save me. Evening and morning and at noon I utter my complaint and moan, and he hears my voice. He redeems my soul in safety from the battle that I wage, for many are arrayed against me.”
Psalm 55:16-18 ESV
God, we hear news that the number of deaths and missing people in Vietnam is increasing as bridges collapse due to the typhoon.
Please come to the families of the casualties who are in great sorrow and pain and comfort their empty hearts.
Please protect and prevent further damage from occurring, and guide the missing so that they can be found quickly and return safely to their families.
We desire Vietnam to be the nation that seeks God and cries out to the Father who hears even the smallest groan and saves.
Please let the history of pain change into joy, and worry and sighing change into peace in God in Vietnam! Please guide Vietnam to become a country that praises and sings only to God!
