[Today's Prayer] Breaking the ceasefire and choosing to resume airstrikes... "Netanyahu's exit from 'political predicament'"

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu broke the ceasefire agreement by launching an attack on the Palestinian armed group Hamas after two months. The Financial Times (FT) evaluated on the 18th (local time) that Netanyahu resumed airstrikes with the support of the United States as the coalition government was in danger of collapsing and the responsibility for the outbreak of the Gaza Strip war was spreading.

According to the FT, Israel and Hamas have been negotiating with mediators including the United States to move to the next stage since the first stage ceasefire ended on the 2nd.

Recently, Netanyahu, with the support of US President Donald Trump, has virtually rejected the ceasefire and attempted a new agreement. The new conditions proposed by the US and supported by Israel were to release a significant number of hostages earlier than originally planned, extend the ceasefire period by several weeks, and not guarantee a permanent end to the war.

Netanyahu is under pressure from his coalition allies due to the ceasefire agreement with Hamas. Netanyahu is forming a coalition government with the far-right Jewish Power party led by former National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir and the Religious Zionist Party led by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.

However, Ben Gvir withdrew Jewish Power from the coalition in January in protest of the ceasefire agreement. Smotrich also announced his intention to resign, putting him at risk of losing his post as prime minister.

The FT believes that this attack may have been intended to overcome Netanyahu's political crisis. In fact, Ben Gvir returned to the coalition on the 18th, and the general opinion is that the possibility of Smotrich's threat being realized has decreased.

We believe that at that time, the war between Israel and Hamas will cease and the Shalom of Jehovah will come.
