[Today's Prayer] In Nigeria, 2583 People Killed, and 2164 Kidnapped in the First Quarter

The local Daily Trust reported on the 22nd local time that armed groups' crimes continue unabated in Nigeria, with at least 2,583 people killed and 2,164 kidnapped in the first quarter of this year.

The local security consulting firm Beacon Security and Intelligence stated on their report of current situation that an average of 28 people were killed and 24 were kidnapped per day based on the statistic from January to March.

In the north and central regions, 2070 people were killed, accounting for 80% of the total, and the northwest had the highest number of kidnapping victims with 1297 kidnapped.

According to the newspaper, most of the deaths in the north and central regions were attributed to attacks by armed groups known as 'bandits', by Islamic armed groups, and due to bloody clashes between Muslim nomads and Christian peasant tribes.

In northeastern Nigeria, extremist Islamic armed groups such as Boko Haram, notorious for the 2014 kidnapping of Chibok Government Girls' Secondary School, and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been active for over 10 years.

President Buhari declared an end to the violence upon taking office in May last year, but with the continuing incidents of killings and kidnappings, the security situation is actually worsening.

How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light. (Psalms 36:7,9)

God our Light, we hear that at least 2,583 people have been killed and 2,164 kidnapped in the first quarter of this year due to attacks from extremist armed groups.

May you have mercy on Nigeria where Islam extremist armed groups are at work for the past 10 years, and shine your light of salvation upon the peoples in Nigeria.

May you comfort the families who suffer from the killing and kidnappings, and lead them to see Your light as they take refuge under Your wings.

As the people of Nigeria love and forgive by the blood of the cross the very souls who, not knowing Jesus, partake in the works of Islamic extremist militant group, we believe that they will also come to see the light of God.

May Nigeria become one by the love of the cross of Jesus Christ and may the Muslim souls come back to Him and be the people that preach the news of salvation to all of Nigeria, Africa, and the nations!
