[Today's Prayer] "Iran Execute 1,000 People in 2024... Highest in 30 Years"

The claim that Iran executed 1,000 people last year is shocking.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), which opposes the Islamic Republic of Iran, revealed that the number of executions carried out by the Ali Khamenei regime in 2024 reached 1,000, which is an unprecedented figure in the past 30 years. This is an average of 19 executions per week.

According to NCRI, this is about a 16% increase from 864 in 2023. According to Amnesty International, the number of executions carried out in Iran in 2023 will account for about 74% of all executions recorded worldwide.

NCRI also claimed that among the 1,000 prisoners executed in 86 prisons across Iran last year, 34 women and 7 juvenile offenders were included. The actual number would be much higher if secret executions were taken into account, they said.

In particular, 47% of executions last year were concentrated in the last quarter.

NCRI criticized this as creating an atmosphere of fear to protect the regime's security as the political, economic, and social crises intensified last year.

NCRI's incoming chairwoman Mariam Rajavi said, "The brutal executions that took place in the fall of 2024 were a desperate attempt by the Khamenei regime to prevent an uprising by the angry people who hope for the complete overthrow of the regime," adding, "However, this brutality has doubled the determination of Iran's youth to overthrow the religious dictatorship."

She added, "The Khamenei regime must be ostracized by the international community, and any dealings with it must be conditioned on an end to executions and torture," adding, "The regime's leaders must be held accountable before the law."
