According to a report by the Norway-based human rights organization Iran Human Rights (IHR) and the French anti-death penalty organization Together Against the Death Penalty (ECPM), Iran executed at least 975 people in 2024. This represents a 17% increase from the 834 executions recorded in 2023, and is the highest number since IHR began its research in Iran in 2008.
26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. 27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. (1 Corinthians 12:26-27)
Dear Heavenly Father,
We hear the news that Iran executed 17% more people in 2024 compared to the previous year. As an Islamic fundamentalist country, Iran lives under Islamic law, and many souls are living in fear. Have mercy on the Iranian souls who are suffering under Islamic law. May they look to Jesus Christ, the true refuge, in their suffering.
We believe that Islamic law cannot solve the problems of the Iranian people, but only the words of Jesus Christ, who is the truth, can set them free from all sin. May the dark deeds that lead them to death be stopped, and may Jesus Christ's reign of eternal life and freedom come soon.
Moreover, Lord, you have left your church in Iran, even in the darkest of places. May the Iranian church pray more for the suffering Iranian souls, and may they serve them with the love of Jesus Christ, who bore our pain and suffering on the cross.
May the Iranian people be restored as a nation that has escaped from the false Islamic law and is under the rule of God's kingdom. May they rejoice in Jesus Christ, who gives comfort and peace in suffering, and may they rise as a holy nation that testifies to Jesus Christ among all nations.
