As the risk of an all-out war between Israel and the Lebanese armed political group Hezbollah increases, Iran has warned Israel that a 'war of annihilation' will occur if it attacks Lebanon.

Iran's mission to the United Nations said on the 28th (local time), on X (previously twitter), “Iran considers the Zionist regime's propaganda to attack Lebanon as a psychological warfare, but if it launches a full-scale military attack, it will lead to a "war of extermination, This will happen.”

“All options are on the table, including the full involvement of all resistance fronts (pro-Iranian militants),” he added.

This warning comes at a time when tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have reached a dangerous level.

Hezbollah has been attacking northern Israel with missiles and rockets since October 8th last year, a day after the war between the two sides began due to a surprise attack on Israel by the Palestinian armed political faction Hamas.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah attacked northern Israel with hundreds of rockets and drones for two consecutive days after the death of its top commander, Taleb Abdullah, during an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon on the 11th, heightening the risk of all-out war between the two sides.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant threatened Hezbollah, saying it could "turn Lebanon into the Stone Age."

As the conflict between the Israeli military and Hezbollah recently intensified, U.S. President Joe Biden dispatched special envoy Amos Hochstein to Lebanon and urged a diplomatic solution.

According to an anonymous official cited by the Washington Post, Qatar also received a request from the United States to help mediate in Lebanon.

U.S. and Israeli officials reportedly want a broad agreement that would end Hezbollah's threats in northern Israel and allow refugees to return home.

However, analysts say that if a permanent ceasefire is not achieved in the Gaza Strip, it is unlikely that Hezbollah will sign an agreement limiting military options, the WP reported.
