[Today’s Prayer] “Iranian president pleads with supreme leader to refrain from retaliating against Israel”

While it is known that Iran will soon launch a retaliatory attack against Israel, there is a possibility that Iran has returned to a cautious mode. Some analyzes say that regardless of Iran's intentions, there is still a possibility that Hezbollah will attack Israel on its own. Iran's supreme leader declared revenge against Israel after Ismail Haniya, the top political leader of the Palestinian armed faction Hamas, was assassinated in the center of the capital.

On the 7th (local time), Politico, a U.S. political media outlet, quoted two senior U.S. officials who requested anonymity and said, “The U.S. is persuading Iran through its Middle East allies to ‘reconsider its military attack on Israel.’ Since Ismail Haniya did not die while Israel was carrying out a large-scale attack (against Iran), and no Iranian citizen died (during the assassination), Iran is increasingly responding to the US argument that Iran should not launch a large-scale retaliatory attack. “I agree,” the report said. Politico reported that these officials said, “‘Iran appears to have readjusted its position. “We do not expect Iran to attack Israel immediately,” he said.

On the same day, John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator for the White House National Security Council, responded to reporters' questions about whether Iran had changed its mind and said, "I will not comment on specific information, but the Biden administration does not want to escalate the war." Over the weekend, the United States deployed additional fighter jets and warships to the Middle East, judging that Iran was likely to attempt an attack against Israel.

Persian-language broadcaster based in London, Englandiran international, citing an anonymous source, “Iran’s new president, Massoud Fezeshkian, said, ‘If we attack Israel, Iran will suffer a fatal blow (Israel’s retaliatory attack). He pleaded with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei not to attack Israel, saying that the economy would be paralyzed and the country could potentially collapse. The broadcast reported that Khamenei neither accepted nor opposed President Fezeshkian's warning.

The broadcast also cited a Telegraph report on the 2nd (local time), saying, 'President Fezeshkian is under pressure from factions within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who are demanding a strong military response.' The Telegraph reported at the time, “A close associate of President Fezeshkian said the assassination of Haniya may have been a deliberate attempt by the Revolutionary Guards to damage the new president’s reputation. It is not common sense that something like this happened on his first day in office. (Because of the assassination) the president may have to go to war with Israel within a few days of taking office. “This is all because of the Revolutionary Guard,” he said.

But I will rescue you on that day, declares the Lord; you will not be given into the hands of those you fear. I will save you; you will not fall by the sword but will escape with your life, because you trust in me, declares the Lord.’” (Jeremiah 39:17-18)

Amen, Jesus whom we love, we pray at this hour.

May all the clouds of war that surround Israel be destroyed, and all the powers of death be destroyed. You have said that you will save, so help them. May Israel now be the people of God who come forth confessing and proclaiming Jesus Christ alone as their Savior.

Let God's kingdom come among Israel

Every spirit of death, working among the nations of Israel and Iran, be destroyed in the name of Jesus! Let them be a people who trust in Jesus Christ alone, and let them not perish by the sword, but come forth as a people overflowing with rivers of life.
