[Today’s Prayer] “Israeli Mossad chief heads to Qatar to negotiate ceasefire in Gaza”

Amid speculation that ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas will resume, Reuters reported on the 4th (local time) that Mossad Director David Varnia, who leads the Israeli negotiating team, will visit Qatar, the mediating country.

Citing a source familiar with the negotiations, the news agency reported that negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage release between Israel and Hamas will begin on the 6th.

Director Varnia plans to meet with Qatari Prime Minister Muhammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and work to bring Israel and Hamas together.

The Israeli Prime Minister's Office announced the previous day, "A negotiation team led by Mossad (Israel's foreign intelligence agency) is reviewing Hamas' new ceasefire proposal after receiving it from the mediating countries, the United States, Qatar, and Egypt."

Additionally, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved dispatching an Israeli negotiation team that day.

Hamas also said in a statement that it had treated Israel's proposal "positively," and Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh was reported to have been in contact with mediators in Qatar and Egypt for several hours to discuss ideas for reaching an agreement.

In relation to this, a source from the Israeli negotiating team told the daily Times of Israel, "There is a real opportunity to reach an agreement on the release of hostages."

This source said, “The ceasefire plan that Hamas has delivered contains a very important breakthrough,” and “It can contribute to advancing negotiations. There is a proposal that is actually feasible.”
