(Today's Prayer) Life-threatening sea escapes continue in the new year... 264 Rohingya refugees arrive in Indonesia

Two wooden boats carrying more than 260 Rohingya refugees, including women and children, have arrived in Indonesia.

According to Indonesia's Antara News Agency and other sources on the 7th (local time), two wooden boats were discovered off the coast of Aceh, the westernmost province of Indonesia, on the night of the 5th. One of the boats sank off the coast, while the other was able to move closer to the coast.

The people on the two wooden boats were 264 Rohingya refugees, 117 men and 147 women. Of these, 30 were children.

The Aceh government explained that they arrived in Malaysia on the 4th, but were denied landing and were pushed to Indonesia, and that they are currently discussing with the UNHCR to ensure their safety.

The Rohingya, who are Muslims, have long been oppressed as an ethnic minority in Myanmar, where the majority are Buddhists, and currently, more than 700,000 of them have fled persecution and are living in refugee camps in Bangladesh across the border.

However, with so many refugees arriving in Indonesia in recent years, including more than 500 Rohingya arriving in Indonesia between October of last year and the end of last year, the Indonesian government has also shown reluctance to help them.

And behold, a woman who had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.” Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well. (Matthew 9:20-22)

Father God, the Creator and Lord of all things, we hear the sad news that Rohingya refugees risked their lives to escape by sea to Malaysia in the new year, but were rejected and went to Indonesia, but even there, the government is not providing assistance.

Please have mercy on the Rohingya people who have been oppressed in Myanmar for a long time and have not been recognized as citizenship by any country, and have been living as refugees, but have nowhere to settle down.

Though they believe in Islam say they are brothers, when they see that Malaysia and Indonesia do not care for the Rohingya people, may they realize that Islam is a spirit of lies.

Please do not ignore the Rohingya people who have nowhere to go, and help them to receive practical support for their needs.

Just as the woman who suffered from bleeding for twelve years said that she would be saved if she just touched Jesus’ outer garment and was saved by this faith, please let the Rohingya people who have nothing to rely on in this land be saved by faith when they seek the Lord.

Please let the global church spread the gospel to the Rohingya people and provide love and help like the Good Samaritan.

May the Rohingya people do not place their hopes on this land full of endless poverty and anxiety, but become a people who look forward to the hope of eternal heaven and wait for the Lord to come again and spread the gospel!
