While the US has effectively suspended refugee acceptance due to President Donald Trump's executive order, Pakistan has resumed deportation of Afghan refugees, putting Afghan refugees who have been waiting in Pakistan for the day they can immigrate to the US at risk of being deported.
According to Reuters and AP on the 20th (local time), the Afghan Embassy in Pakistan said that Pakistani authorities recently resumed deportation of Afghans living in the country, and that the deportations "began without any formalities such as sending an official letter to the Afghan Embassy or making an official announcement."
The embassy said that Pakistani authorities are conducting searches and arrests of Afghan refugees, and are deporting refugees from the capital city of Islamabad and the nearby large city of Rawalpindi to other regions.

In particular, among the Afghan refugees in Pakistan, there are about 20,000 who risked their lives to help the US military during the Afghan War, but escaped to Pakistan after the Taliban regained power and are waiting to immigrate to the US.
They applied for asylum in the US, but their situation is uncertain since President Trump suspended the refugee program last month.
In the midst of this, their anxiety has grown as the Pakistani authorities have resumed a large-scale policy of deporting Afghan refugees.

Afterward Moses and Aaron went and said to Pharaoh, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Let my people go, that they may hold a feast to me in the wilderness.’” Exodus 5:1
We hear news that deportations of Afghan refugees are taking place in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, and the nearby area of Rawalfield.
We believe that the Lord hears the cries of Afghan refugees who have lost their places to go after being deported from Pakistan, where they have been waiting to immigrate to the United States ever since they escaped from the Taliban rule after helping US during the Afghan War.
Lord, please comfort the suffering Afghan refugees. Please help the Afghan refugees who have fled the war and the oppression of the Taliban to Pakistan, but have nowhere to go, not to fall into despair, but to look to the kingdom of God.
Just as the Lord heard the cries of the Israelites who suffered under the oppression of Egypt and led them to the promised land of Canaan, please let the Afghan refugees hear the gospel at this time, so that they rise up as churches and leave Pakistan to go out to the nations, dreaming of the kingdom of God.
For this, may the Pakistani church come to serve the Afghan people, spread the gospel of Jesus, and rise up as a church that together advances for the kingdom of God.
May the Afghan not be deported, but be commissioned to go out to all nations to praise the God of salvation who leads and saves all people!
