[Emergency Prayer] Israel&Palestine War 14

Updated: Nov 2, 2023

1) The pain of the Holocaust from 100 years ago recreated

There are about 147,000 elderly Holocaust survivors and their descendants living in Israel. One of the descendants, a man in his 30s, said, “I grew up listening to the stories of the Israeli people in the Holocaust from my grandmother and parents from a young age, and I dream about it every day.” After the war began on October 7, the Holocaust generation said that the times of national persecution and suffering that had been suppressed in their subconscious seemed to have become reality. “The people of Israel must no longer live in fear,” he said, hoping that his children and the next generation would not live in such hurt and trauma. “Survival, persecution, and massacre have been part of our people’s history, but we must not be afraid.” He says.

2) Possibility of forming a second front and growing concerns of war expansion

In a briefing early on the 31st, the Israeli military warned, "If you are concerned about Lebanon, stay away from this war." On the 29th and 30th, Hezbollah opened fire and fired mortars at several military posts along the border, and in response to this attack, Israel also announced that it pressed ahead with an attack on Hezbollah bases. As a result, the possibility of the formation of a 'second front' is increasing, and concerns about escalation of the war are growing. Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said, "We are doing our duty to prevent Lebanon from entering the war. Lebanon is in the eye of the storm." Additionally, the involvement of Yemen's Houthi rebels, supported by Iran as well as Hezbollah, is increasing.

3) The turbulent West Bank and the expansion of minors’ participation in protests

Although the West Bank, where about 3 million Palestinians live, is physically separated from the Gaza Strip, the situation is not easy. Israeli troops are entering West Bank cities at night and early morning to search for and arrest Hamas leaders and those who participated in the protests. As a result, large and small conflicts continue to occur and casualties are occurring. On the night of the 29th, shops and streets were bulldozed and casualties occurred in the city of Jenin, and protests continued in the city center of Jenin. On the 30th, in several cities, even middle and high school students took to the streets to protest.

[Prayer Topic]

1. Please touch the hearts of the Jews who are trembling with fear as if they are being hunted again like the Holocaust, and may the gospel of Yeshua be proclaimed in their impoverished hearts. May all oppressed things be set free.

2. May the Lord help prevent the war from expanding and shorten the number of days of war in this land so that there will be no more tragedies that result in innocent victims.

3. For the Korean and global church to rise up to heal and serve the next generation of this land, who are incited by anger and hatred, with the love of God and the gospel of the Lord Jesus.

But I will have mercy on the house of Judah, and I will save them by the Lord their God. I will not save them by bow or by sword or by war or by horses or by horsemen. (Hosea 1:7)

God, who can resolve the anger and pain of two peoples full of hatred and death?

Lord of mercy, please hear the suffering of Israel and Palestine and have mercy on them.

Lord, save this nation with your mighty arm. As promised, please save this nation not with swords, bows, horses, or cavalry, but with the power of eternal life that you completed through the cross.

Let the light of your face shine on us so that the sounds of pain and groaning may become sounds of praise to the Lord Jesus! May they rise up according to your promise and become a nation that shines your light among all nations!
